I worked in Washington, D.C. on the 14th and 15th of September, 2010 for “Zero-The Project to End Prostate Cancer.” Working after arriving in D.C. two hours later the first day led me straight to “Capital Hill” after documenting a board meeting and board member photos for the Summit that was taking place that week bringing constituents from across the country to talk to their perspective Congressman. People were telling their stories of the impact Prostate Cancer has had on their lives as well as being in the forefront in the fight to eliminate the disease. I had the pleasure of photographing John Kerry, (US Senator from Massachusetts), Nancy Pelosi, (Speaker of the House), as well as Rosey Grier, (former NFL star and LA Rams All-Pro defensive lineman) inside the Capital Building. The second day I worked in and out amongst people attending the Summit and conference in the fight against Prostate Cancer. Here is a statement directly from Zero’s website below if you are interested in helping. My life was changed by this conference and I intend on starting to begin my own regular health checks with a physician to prevent any of these sleeping demons from cutting my life short.
From testing men throughout the country to holding fundraising events, ZERO — The Project to End Prostate Cancer works to bring prostate cancer to the forefront of the cancer community. Now is the time to get involved with the prostate cancer cause as ZERO works to raise awareness about the disease and fights to end it. Thanks again, Justin! Great photos and thankfully, you just sort went with the flow – I don’t think that I could have spared another moment to guide you around but somehow you just seemed to be in the right place at the right time.
Thanks to you too Kevin; the 2 days I worked with you and Zero were seamless as well as life changing…tell Van I have an appointment this month to have a basic physical and my blood work checked. Every man should have the opportunity to see a doctor; we are privileged with insurance. Hope you have a good Fall in D.C.; we will tell you when we will be returning and I hope it is soon.
